CAMeC Centro presents the first Italian exhibition of visual poetry on ceramics with works by the major authors of the sector.
It is a research exhibition project that brings together this particular type of work, certainly the rarest in the field of visual poetry, counting a few hundred copies in the world. An unprecedented project, representative of the artistic production on ceramic support of about thirty verbovisual poets, born and developed with the generous support of Isaia Mabellini, in art SARENCO, and with the fundamental contribution of the collectors Paolo Scatizzi, Paolo Berardelli, Luigi Bonotto, Giuseppe Verzelletti and some important artists of visual poetry, one for all Lamberto Pignotti, as well as with the support of the master ceramist Michelangelo Marchi.

Nobody more than the sailors was photographed and photographed exalting, with the favorable wind of youth, the myth of adventure, freedom and the most seductive courage.
The exhibition interprets with originality the latest trend of international photography, the wonderful universe of anonymous photography. A selection of over 250 images, from the end of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century, from Europe to America, from Indochina to Japan, with which sailors-photographers, armed with the first snapshot cameras produced by Kodak and Agfa, documented with freshness and sincerity every moment of their life.
It is one of the very first exhibitions of this kind in Italy. And it is no coincidence that the CAMeC della Spezia has been chosen. The theme is well suited to the history of the city, the headquarters of the Maritime Arsenal and the Navy Base of the Italian Navy which over the years, especially up to the abolition of the compulsory military leverage (which took place in 2004), has seen the presence conspicuous and characteristic of Italian sailors and many international fleets.

The exhibition, through a course of educational panels, aims to bring out the human experience of Galileo, in all its dimensions. It recreates the historical, social, cultural and religious environment of the time, which corresponds to the birth of modernity, showing its ferments, contrasts and extraordinary creativity, even in the Italy of the Counter-Reformation. Galileo tries to inaugurate a more adequate approach to reach the knowledge of nature but proves to be too impulsive and not inclined to establish constructive dialogue with the authorities. The whole story and its historical consequences are re-read in the light of today’s science and its most profound needs, showing how, within an experience of faith, science can find its rightful place.
