Attracted by the Cinque Terre, tourists from across the Channel are starting to look around and discover what to do in Cinque Terre and beyond. The Telegraph recommens to visit Porto Venere and Tellaro
Porto Venere? It is not less beautiful than the Cinque Terre and it is also quieter: definitely worth a visit. This is the opinion of the UK’s The Telegraph newspaper, which in an article on 21 Italian places you would never think to be worth a visit, places the seaside village near La Spezia in fifth place.
Porto Venere, a pearl to be discovered
According to the British newspaper, the Cinque Terre remains an absolutely appealing and prestigious destination, but with the risk – especially in certain seasons – to be really too crowded and confusing.
Then, better go to Porto Venere, that looks like a “sixth terra”, but “much quieter” and equally beautiful to live and see. The difference with the famous villages in the world? The Telegraph sees it this way: “One of the Cinque Terre, but without the railway.”
Tellaro also appears among the tips
And confirming that “beyond the Cinque Terre” in La Spezia there is also much more to see (we had given them some advice in this post), from the office of the newspaper also comes the suggestion to visit Tellaro.
Already included in the list of most beautiful villages in Italy, Tellaro is described as a beautiful village near Lerici (place of Shelley and Byron election), south of the capital of La Spezia.
I wonder if, enchanted by the spectacular view tellarino, the British have also discovered the legend of the octopus that saved the village and its inhabitants from the assault of the pirates!
