In Sarzana, the tradition of restoration and antiques is very rich and also felt by the younger generations, and animates one of the most important fairs of Italian antiques: La Soffitta nella Strada – the Attic in the Street.
Certainly one of the most expected events of Sarzana, which for more than 50 years takes place in its streets, consolidating an indissoluble union between the city and the antiquarian tradition: it is the La Soffitta nella Strda, the attic in the street, this year in its 52 th edition. Born from the desire of antique dealers in the 60s, the fair has become an increasingly articulated event that brings together specialists and curious to peek in the stands to search objects or jewelery or small hidden treasures of modern art or antiques, a varied and complex market that seamlessly integrates with the small-town atmosphere.
The Attic in the Street is now organized in several editions throughout the winter by local antiquarians who “host” specialists and traders from all over Italy, with their proposal to objects from all over the world .
Like every first Saturday in August , Saturday 6 the most important annual edition of the Soffitta takes place: for fifteen days and fifteen nights , the streets look like a open-air bazaar , lively and colorful, around which take place street entertainment , shows and concert . Among these events, the Calandriniana is perhaps one of the best known: a art workshop which takes its name from the square next to the cathedral where artists paint to expose therselves but also to deal directly with the public.
From August 6 to 21, in addition, the Attic of kids is the exhibition exchange of books, toys and objects to which access is forbidden for more than 14 years older dealer.
From August 6 to 15 “ Sarzana a Tavola” prepares 400 seats to taste the local dishes, prepared by 18 local business members.
