The crib that every year the Christmas lights in Manarola is now an area of La Spezia tradition famous all over the world, and protagonist of some Christmas record.
You can say it is Christmas in the Cinque Terre and La Spezia only when you turn on the magnificent Nativity of Manarola , a representation of the Nativity with 300 farmers and shepherds silhouettes made of recyclable materials, lighted every year by 17,000 colored bulbs and 7 km of electrical cable. The little great work of art occupies in spectacular fashion the entire hill of Manarola covered with vineyards up to its summit, where stands the hut with the comet.
Thursday, December 8 is the switch-on day, when in the small village of the Cinque Terre will begin the increasingly large influx of people who come to admire live the impressive display of the nativity scene that takes its life of lights at the first nightfall, in the unique natural set of the Cinque Terre.
The crib is designed and built every year since 2007 by the imagination and commitment of Mario Andreoli, retired railwayman from Manarola who wanted to make an important work , it was also an opportunity to unite the village around a small but major undertaking, today the largest representation of the Nativity in the world. Today all collaborate in the work of construction of the crib, contrinuendo to its beauty.
In ignition day, at 15 it arrives from Genoa to the special train to Manarola Railway Station organized by the transport of the Liguria Region with the collaboration of the Council for the protection of human rights disabled and the Association Fa.Di.Vi and addition. To welcome the participants in the Migliarina Band led by maestro Gabriele Castellani. At about 17.30, the ignition of the crib.
The crib will remain illuminated until January 31, 2017, and New Year’s Eve beautiful fireworks will enrich the show of the Nativity.
