Inevitable, as every summer, the Sagra del Polpo sits Tellaro down to table. For the year 2016, the program of the festival in the village that overlooks on the extreme east of the Gulf of Poets provides dinners from Friday, August 12 to Sunday, August 14 . Authentic and always well attended, the Octopus festival will not however be the only festival in the next days in the province of La Spezia and surroundings in the days of August. From the anchovies of Cadimare to the sgabei Ortonovo it will be easy to find something to your liking.
The Octopus Sagra of Tellaro 2016: the savior of the village ends up in the pot
Strange fate that of the octopus of Tellaro . Mascot and savior of the village (legend has it that it was an octopus to save Tellaro from a pirate onslaught ) ends up in the pot to be praised and thanked.
The Sagra del Polpo of Tellaro is certainly one of the most ancient history in the province of La Spezia. The edition 2016 will take place – as a tradition – in the second weekend of the month.
In the evenings of 12, 13 and 14 August , guests will be seated in the courtyard of the small school of Tellaro to taste the prepared dishes. The star – needless to say – is the octopus , which can be enjoyed the tellarese way (salad with potatoes) and the “hell” way. Each of the three evenings is distinguished by a different main dish.
And just as impressive as the dishes is the environment , to be enjoyed during the long wait that – at peak times – you have to endure on the steps leading to the entrance. If you take it easy, it is a great opportunity to chat with people coming from all over Italy and the world standing on the step in front of or behind yours.
Panigacci, sgabei and anchovies: other sagras in August
The days immediately before or after the Italian Ferragosto there is no lack of opportunity to eat at a sagra.
12 to 21 August, for example, in Cadimare the “Cadimare… sapori e colori del Golfo” sagra takes place. ood, dance and cultural events where to – in the weekend evenings – you can taste the local anchovies.
The 12 and August 13 , on the other hand, Ortonovo will be the event’s location for “4 passi tra i sapori antichi”. The town will become the backdrop for a walk with tasting of typical dishes such as sgabei, Fritelli, cutters and panigacci.
From 12 to 14 August , every night starting at 7.30, the Bowmen of Sarzana at their shooting Field will welcome all at Muscoli per lo sport. On the table muscles, spaghetti with seafood, anchovies in oil and sgabei.
